And the News Is…
I am going to be making Wheel Truth into my new full-time job! I just announced to my church family at Redemption Hill Church in Colorado Springs that I will be stepping down as Associate Pastor of Ministry effective May 2. Here is the official statement I gave them this morning:
“I just wanted to take a few minutes to share that God has brought me to the next step in my life and ministry. About a year and a half ago God gave me the desire to start a new online video ministry. I started doing some initial research, buying equipment, and considering what this would look like, but when COVID shut everything down I had to focus on setting up live streaming for our services and some other ministry needs. That put this idea on hold until things settled down, but the desire only grew over the past year. After much prayer and discussion with Ross and my parents I concluded that if this ministry idea was ever going to happen, I would need to pursue it full time and step down as Associate Pastor of Ministry. At first, it was just going to stop there, but as I thought about it more, my family and I together felt that God is calling us to serve and worship with a new body of believers so that I do not interfere with those who will be taking over my responsibilities and so the draw to help would not get in the way of what God is now calling me to do.
“This was a very hard decision that my family and I made after much prayer and consideration. I have enjoyed serving this church and its people these past 10 years and attending for 26 years. Serving as one of your pastors has been a wonderful opportunity and privilege. I will miss all of you greatly and I will always cherish the friendship I have with many of you, but I am also excited to start something new. My last day will be May 2 when I am scheduled to preach so I’ll be around for a couple more weeks. There is a lot of work to be done before this new ministry officially lunches, but I hope you will follow my progress at wheeltruth.com. I just ask that you pray for me in the days ahead as I plan this ministry. Pray that God will use it to work in people’s lives and that he will be glorified.”
While it is a little bittersweet that my parents and I will be attending church elsewhere, I am so excited to see where God will take Wheel Truth! It will take some time to figure everything out. There are some legal and organizational/business things to attend to to officially set this up as some sort of ministry. I am not sure what type of organization it will eventually be set up as since it will require a lot of research. I need to figure out what platform(s) to host videos through and set up social media accounts. I also need to approach sponsors and/or donors to figure out ways to keep this ministry funded. As you can see, there really is much to do! I will keep this blog updated as best as I can with the latest developments.
It is my hope that all of this will bring glory to our great God!
